To stop Adobe CS5 calling home to Mother Ship on your mac in OS X you need to edit the hosts file as described in ‘Stop Adobe CS4 calling home to Mother Ship in OS X’.

Simply follow the instructions in the ‘Stop Adobe CS4 calling home to Mother Ship in OS X’ tutorial and use the list of hosts below for CS5:

Photoshop CS5 still tries to connect to Adobe. If I don’t let it (using Little SNitch) then it works, but the Kuler panel is disabled as it needs an internet connection.

If I allow it I get the old ‘this serial number is not correct etc etc’

Any ideas?

You could make all this a lot simpler by simply keying

sudo pico /etc/hosts

This will bring up the built-in text editor right in the terminal
Simply ‘edit > paste’ this list in. hit ^x and you’re good to go.

Max. My guess is that you don’t have a password set up for mac yet and it is blank? terminal won’t work unless you setup a password. i just installed everything, went in and changed the host file, opened up a program, typed in the serial numbers provided, and it seems to have worked. i did notice that i DO have a cache file in the library>application support>adobe>adobe PCD>cache. does that mean that i am going to be ok? Shouldn’t that not be popping up, because i closed its connections to the adobe “mothership”?

Anyone have a fix for this. CS4 works fine. But as a result my mac won’t upload pic/files via any upload managers. (ie facebook, flickr, etc…). Not sure where to look for a fix, but know it’s a result of stopping pinging to Adobe MShip.

If anyone is interested, the following works perfectly on the Windows version of CS5 (will also work for all other Adobe apps if you have the Master Collection)
1) Forget the entries in the Hosts file, doesn’t work for CS5
2) Get a serial that is known to work or delete the cache.db file
3) Install CS5 using the key (make sure you don’t have an internet connection for the duration of the install)
4) Configure a Firewall Outbound Rule (can do this in Vista or W7) to block outbound access to the specific application executable (for Photoshop 32-bit it would be c:\program files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\photoshop.exe)
5) Voila

Audry is tha BOMB!! The very first serial # worked for master suite CS5!! Nice. Here’s what I did.

First of all I have CS4 master suite trials installed and am blocking them with Little Snitch. They have worked flawlessly. This morning I just went to Adobe’s site and DL’ed the trial of photoshop CS5. Once installed I created a rule that denied Photoshop CS5 from accessing any port. I opened PS and it still asked for a serial. Thats when I did some searching and found this thread. I opened PS cs5 and when it asked for a serial I entered the first # Audry posted above. Got the pretty green check mark and am now PLaying around with CS5!

I’ll prob keep CS4 installed for at least the next 90 days or so to see if it continues to work. If so, I’ll uninstall the cs4 suite.

check to see if you are using a proxy to access the internet, if you are then you need to add an exception to the servers you put in the hosts file so they won’t go through the proxy

Better to remind everyone to take note that the stuff to copy-paste in the hosts file in CS4 is different from CS5, i forgot to take note of that and got frustrated xD i didn’t realize i was copying the wrong stuff but all’s good now, try not to be frustrated guys and look closely if you’ve skipped a step or overlooked a tiny detail

Do Just These Step’s :-

Adobe Acrobat X Pro Crack Instructions
For Window 7

1. Install trial version of Adobe Acrobat X Pro.

2. Start Adobe Acrobat X Pro in trial mode.

3. Close Adobe Acrobat X Pro.

4. Copy the kegen.exe file and Paste into the “C:\Program Files\Adobe\ Adobe Acrobat X Pro ” folder.

5. Right-click on the keygen.exe and choose “Run as Administrator”.
6. Click “Patch”.

7. Dialog is displayed that says patch applied successfully.

8. Click the “Generate” button to make a code.

9. Open Adobe Acrobat X Pro and enter the key into the product.

10. Enjoy.

alright, so i have been using the trail license work around for cs4 for sometime. Now i want to just install after effects cs5. How would i go about this? Do i have to remove the script in my host file to install it? And will the new script for the cs5 workaround keep both my cs4 and cs5 adobe products from calling to adobe? I dont want to mess something up and lose the programs I already have, and i dont want to end up spending a month trying a bunch of different ways to get it to work. Help?
