Launch Flush to preview and then delete your Flash cookies.
For those unfamiliar with Flash cookies, more accurately known as Local Shared Objects (LSO), they function similarly to standard browser cookies but are stored outside the browser’s control. This means they cannot be deleted through the browser itself, whether you’re using Safari, Firefox, Opera, or any other. These cookies are typically set by websites or third-party domains hosting Adobe Flash content. Given that nearly all online advertising is delivered via Flash, it’s a given that entities like Google/Doubleclick and other internet advertising firms use Flash cookies to track your web browsing activities. These companies can monitor your movements across the vast array of websites featuring their embedded advertisements. For more information, see the Wikipedia page on this topic.
On Mac OS X, Flash cookies are stored at:
/Users/Home Folder/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player/#SharedObjects
Settings for Flash cookies can be found at:
/Users/Home Folder/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player/macromedia.com/support/flashplayer/sys
In OS X, Local Shared Objects, or Flash Cookies, have a .sol file extension. Flush is designed to remove both the Flash cookies (.sol files) and their settings.
